Senior Hurling League 2006 Round 9

Senior Hurling League.

Played at Cloyne on Thursday 22nd June.

Blackrock 0 - 12 Cloyne 0 - 7.

Blackrock raced into a three point lead after three minutes when Alan Browne, Joe Young and Adrian Coughlan fired over points. By halftime the scoreline was Blackrock 0 - 8 to Cloynes 0 - 3 . Adrian Coughlan with two points from frees, Alan Browne with two from play and Liam Meaney had contributed to the Blackrock total while David King proved to be Cloynes main scorer with a point from play and a free. Cloyne were missing all their Cork senior and minor panel members for this game, while Wayne Sherlock was unavailable for Blackrock.

Blackrock's defence with Fergal Ryan and John Browne to the fore along with Ciaran Connery gave little scope to the Cloyne forwards. In the second half Cloyne edged within three points of the Rockies at two stages but could not close the initial gap. Two points each from Brian O'Keeffe and Joe Young competed the Blackrock scoring in a game that never really came alive.
