Evening Echo Cork County Senior Hurling league.

Played at Church Road Tuesday 17th April 2007.

Blackrock 0 - 18 Glen Rovers 2 - 11

31 scores in 60 minutes, a ding dong battle, arguments over scores and the final score, a huge shirt sleeved crowd packed into sunny Church Road, crowds of spectators discussing events in the game, some brilliant scores, great individual contests.

Summer Championship?

No! just a Cork Senior Hurling league game in the middle of April 2007! This game was a very close contest with very little separating the sides. Some early goals from the lighting fast Glen forwards such as Patrick Horgan left the scoreline at Glen Rovers 2 - 3 to 0 - 6. after 20 minutes.

By the interval it was Glen Rovers 2 - 7, Blackrock 0 - 9. Adrian Coughlan had contributed four points and Fergal Ryan, Brian O'Keeffe and Barry Hennebry had added scores.

The Blackrock defence got on top in the second half with John Browne in particular clearing ball after ball. Wayne Sherlock curbed the lighting quick Seanie McGrath while Fergal Ryan is really enjoying his hurling at present. On this evening he contributed three long range points in total to crown a brilliant performance.

This was exceeded by the tremendous contribution from Alan Browne who scored 6 points in total, and Blackrock's last four scores when they were badly needed.

Roll on the hurling championship.

Best wishes go to Richard Curtin, Blackrock corner back who picked up an accidental facial injury during the game.
