Junior B Report AGM 2004 |
JUNIOR B HURLING (LEAGUE) Following
a number of meetings between the Junior Selectors at the beginning of the year
and the amount of Players available, it was decided to enter a team in the
Junior B League. This was the first time Blackrock has fielded four adult teams
in their respective leagues. Our
first match ended in us giving a walkover to Brian Dillons. However, our next
two matches against Na Piarsaigh and Passage even though both games were lost by
a single point, we had a panel of 20 and 21 players present. Two wins on the
trot against Nemo Rangers and Fr. O Callaghans gave this team a great boost and
all the remaining fixtures were fulfilled, even though players were upgraded to
Junior 1. Championship We
drew the short straw in the Championship with champions Mayfield. On our pitch,
the team put up a creditable performance losing 2 7 to 1
4. The
Selectors would like to thank all the Players who made themselves available for
this team during the past year. Following a recent Selectors meeting the
proposal that the team should apply in 2005 to play in the Junior (1A) League as
this League would give them a better grade of hurling. The
Selectors would also like to thank the committee for their support, Timmy Murphy
who attended most games and May O Brien who looked after our jerseys. Aidan
