Minor and Underage Report AGM 2004

 MINOR UNDERAGE COMMITTEE REPORT

It was a year of much activity and some interesting successes at this level. While each team will be reported on at the Minor underage meeting on Friday night next it is worth noting here the successes of our Minor B, Under 14 and 12 B Hurlers each of whom won their City Championships.

At other levels it is worth noting that we reached our third successive County F ile final and that all teams from Minor to under 12 were involved in the final stages of their league campaigns.

At Primary level the standards continue to rise and every Saturday morning from April to November Church Road was the scene of traffic jams as the crowds came to participate. The excitement of the Super-leagues, which are now big family occasions, has to be experienced to be appreciated.

Our thanks must go to all our Coaches, the catering committee and all the parents for getting their young Rockies to Church Road every Saturday morning.

Many thanks to the Senior Committee for the encouragement and support during the year and in particular to Field Allocation Officer Roger Ryan for his patience with us in this most difficult job.

We would also like to thank the Grounds Committee for their efforts in setting out pitches for matches in particular for the u-10 league when matches could be played on Wednesday nights.

As a committee we still consider that the Club would benefit greatly if a full time grounds man could be appointed.

During the year we set up a sub-committee to re-establish the Corporate Night function. This was a major success, not just financially but in terms of further developing the positive image of Blackrock Hurling Club. Our thanks to Andrew Guerin, Tom Riordan, Brian Tobin and John Cormack for the trojan work done.
