Under-Age Report AGM 2005

 UNDER-AGE

The under-age section of the club has had a very busy but most enjoyable year. Our under 16 hurlers did the club proud by winning the Carlow Tournament. This tournament involved teams from all over Ireland and it was the first time that Blackrock brought home the honours. The team was involved in a very competitive championship with Glen Rovers before eventually being beaten by a single point.

Our under 15 team, through no fault of their own, were not involved in many competitive matches. The championship for this age group has not even started yet. This is most disappointing and it is most difficult for coaches to keep players motivated with this level of inactivity. Our under 14 team did us proud in June by reaching the National final of Féile na nGael in which they were defeated by an exceptional Kilmacud Crokes team.

Our under 13, 12 and 12 B teams also played in their respective competitions and a more detailed account will be given at the under-age AGM on the 9th.

Primary section: Our Saturday morning section continues to set the standard for other clubs and it is a wonderful sight on Saturday morning to see Church road full of cars and the playing pitches a hive of activity. Long may it continue but it will only continue and develop when more club members share their coaching skills and hurling experience with this activity. We would like to thank the senior committee for their support and encouragement during the year and we wish them every success in the coming year.
