Camogie Juniors and u-9 blitz 2003 |
Junior team in the Butlerstowm 7-a-side competition Blackrock entered a junior team in the Butlerstowm 7-a-side competition on Sunday 31st August. This was the first junior team to compete for Blackrock in about 11 years. The team was made up for the most part by girls that have come up the ranks since the club was reformed. To make up the team we had Joanne Cummins, Ann Mills and Clíona Meaney. The team preformed very well and beat Kilmore from Wexford and Butlerstown from Waterford to qualify to play St. Saviours from Waterford in the quarterfinal. We beat them thanks to the excellent defence of Ann Mills, Cáit Kelleher in goal and Suzanne Meehan who was an outstanding defender in every game. In the semi-final we
came up against Bournea from Tipperary who were a more experienced team.
Despite the best efforts of Clíona Meaney in centre field we lost the
semi-final 2-2 to 2-9. Overall it was an excellent day and a great start for the junior team. We are still actively recruiting players. Any one interested contact any of the camogie committee
U.9 blitz Blarney
We travelled to Blarney for an U.9 blitz and came home after winning the Plate Final. Overall winners were Mallow and Blackrock beat Blarney by 5 goals to 3 goals in the plate final.
The medal presentation and light refreshments were held in the Blarney GAA club to round off a great day.
Well done to all.
