of good behaviour
Role
of the Club
The
primary role of the Blackrock National Hurling Club is to ensure that the
players are encouraged to learn and play the game of hurling, in a safe and
friendly environment. All players are encouraged to participate in a
“Rockies” hurling team, make friends and have fun. In
addition, the development of the player’s interpersonal and social skills is
also considered important. Participating
as a “Rocky,” should be a creative and positive experience, in the
development of each individual. Code
of Good Behaviour The
code of good behaviour outlines briefly the rules and procedures, which should
be observed by young “Rockies.” Adherence
to the code should ensure that everyone will enjoy his involvement with the
Blackrock National Hurling Club. The
rules are as follows: GENERAL
1.
Mutual respect, courtesy and honesty are required of everyone in the
Club. 2.
All “Rockies” must
be registered as members of the Club, on an annual basis. 3.
“Rockies” must
show respect for their teammates, coaches, Club officials, parents, guardians,
visitors and opponents. 4.
“Rockies” must
respect Club property and should have regard for their own and the personal
belongings of others. 5.
Loitering around the outside of the Club premises, pavilion and car park
so as to cause offence to other members or the public, at any time is forbidden. 6.
Absolutely no hurling and ball playing is allowed near the pavilion at
any time. 7.
Members are expected
to show the highest standards of behaviour at all times. Crude or offensive
language or racist comments are not acceptable. 8.
Bullying of any kind
will not be tolerated. 9.
“Rockies” act as
ambassadors for the Club and should behave accordingly on all occasions,
especially on away trips. Playing
Code
Ž
“Rockies” must play at all times by the spirit and rules of hurling. Ž
The
reasons for playing are to improve your skills, enjoy yourself, to have fun. Ž
All
“Rockies” are required to wear full-face guard hurling helmets, at all
times. This is now
compulsory. Ž
No
photographic equipment (including picture mobile phones) is allowed in the dressing
rooms. Ž
“Rockies” must practice self-discipline, respect opponents and never
argue with the referee’s decisions. Ž
Be committed - but
fair and play the ball at all times. Ž
After the match, shake
hands with your opponents; thank the referee, compliment team mates and thank
your coaches. When
you win do so with humility – when you lose do so with dignity. Remember
you cannot win all the time. Disciplinary
Procedures
1.
Each coach is responsible for discipline within his / her group. The
coach or coaches speaking directly with the player can deal with minor breaches
of the Code of Good Behaviour. 2.
If misbehaviour continues, the coach should report the matter to the child
protection officer of the Blackrock Juvenile and Primary Committees, who may
speak to the player or may notify his parents / guardians verbally or in writing
of the difficulty. 3.
If no meaningful improvement occurs, the Juvenile and Primary Committees
can impose a range of sanctions up to and including suspension of the player for
a period of time from club activities. The
player and his parents / guardians will be informed in writing of
the sanctions imposed. 4.
If misbehaviour continues the Juvenile and Primary Committees may
withdraw membership from, or refuse further membership, to the individual. 5.
The Juvenile and Primary Committees reserve the right to suspend an
individual for a single serious breach of this Code of Good Behaviour. 6.
Personal hearings will be granted to the player and / or his parents /
guardians at all stages by the Juvenile and Primary Committees, if sought or
