Code of good behaviour

Role of the Club

The primary role of the Blackrock National Hurling Club is to ensure that the players are encouraged to learn and play the game of hurling, in a safe and friendly environment. All players are encouraged to participate in a “Rockies” hurling team, make friends and have fun.

In addition, the development of the player’s interpersonal and social skills is also considered important.  Participating as a “Rocky,” should be a creative and positive experience, in the development of each individual.

Code of Good Behaviour

The code of good behaviour outlines briefly the rules and procedures, which should be observed by young “Rockies.”  Adherence to the code should ensure that everyone will enjoy his involvement with the Blackrock National Hurling Club.  The rules are as follows:

Playing Code

Ž         “Rockies” must play at all times by the spirit and rules of hurling.

Ž            The reasons for playing are to improve your skills, enjoy yourself, to have fun.

Ž            All “Rockies” are required to wear full-face guard hurling helmets, at all times. This is now

                        compulsory.

Ž           No photographic equipment (including picture mobile phones) is allowed in the

dressing rooms.

Ž         “Rockies” must practice self-discipline, respect opponents and never argue with the referee’s decisions.

When you win do so with humility – when you lose do so with dignity.

Remember you cannot win all the time.
