David Keane appointed coach to Blackrock for 2006. Former Limerick Senior hurling manager David Keane has been appointed as coach to the Rockies for 2006. He takes over from Tom Cashman. David Keane played on the Cork minor team which defeated Kilkenny in the 1974 All-Ireland final. Among his team mates that day were Rockies, Tom Cashman, Dermot McCurtain, Finbarr Delaney and Danny Buckley. He also played Fitzgibbon hurling with U.C.C winning a medal in 1976. David played with Passage, along with his brother Kieran for years, among his team mates were Weeshie Murphy and Justin McCarthy. They all played for an excellent Seandun team in 1975. Seandun had beaten Sarsfields, Youghal and All-Ireland club champions St.Finbarrs in the Cork county championship. Eventually their amazing run came to a halt when they beaten in the County semi-final by Blackrock by just 5 points. Blackrock went on to win the County that year and were eventually beaten by James Stephens in the All-Ireland final. David has coached many club teams including his own Passage, Adare and Eire Og Nenagh however the highlight of his coaching career has been the three-in-a -row under All-Ireland under 21 hurling titles with Limerick. We wish David the very best of luck with the Blackrock hurlers in 2006.
