April 2002

Minor Team 2002 - report to April 2002
Selectors: Bill Reidy and Pat OšNeill

The minor team has played three games in this years Minor League. The first game against Erins Own was the only one in which a full panel was available. Erins Own snatched victory by a one point margin scoring two great goals in the last minutes of the game. However this was an encouraging team performance from Blackrock.
The second game against Bandon saw us fielding a very experimental side and Bandon ran out easy winners.
On to Watergrashill and after a very well contested game the home team ran out winners by a four point margin.
The team positions are far from being settled and we continue to experiment with A. Long as a forward and Daniel Murphy as a half back. These players have risen well to the challenge of their new positions and other players are fighting hard for places. It will be very difficult to pick a Championship team with 22 players in contention for the team places.
Our next league game is against Newtownshandrum next Friday week in Newtown.
The non-exam league then starts and we look forward to the warm nights, the dry pitches and the new sliotars. Optimum conditions for Hurling
