Mycro
Helmets Indoor Hurling League. Results and League tables
Finals February 25th, 2006 After
63 games one goal separated the Blues from the Cons in the Champions League
Final on Saturday. What a morning’s hurling was enjoyed by all who attended!
Virtually every match was a draw or just one goal separated the contestants.
“City” were declared the winners of the Contenders Cup Final following three
close games with the Rockies and United. The All-Blacks sprung a major surprise
when they captured the Challengers Cup Final in the final game. The Rebels and
the Rovers fought all the way. It
came down to the last match in the Champions League and the favourites the Blues
were fortunate to scrape past the Cons by the narrowest of margins in an
absorbing contest which had the huge crowd roaring in appreciation for the skill
and commitment of the young Rockies. A presentation of medals and trophies by
Victor Morgan of Mycro Helmets, Wayne Sherlock and Ronan Curran took place after
each final.

5 February 11th, 2006 The Blues consolidated their position at the top of the league and will definitely qualify for the Champions League finals. The
Cons have just edged out the Saints for second place on score difference. The
finalists in the Challengers League final have yet to be determined. A late
burst from City may be enough to qualify, but it’s still all to play for. Round
4 February 4th, 2006
Top of the table Cons and the Blues met in the league on Saturday 4th February before a packed house at St.Anthony's School Hall. It lived up to expectations as it turned out to be an absolute cracker! If these sides meet up in the ultimate Champions League final the advice is get there early! Great goals, super saves, wonderful hurling and raw courage were the order of the day as both sides gave everything. The Blues were somewhat fortunate to come out on top in the end. Cathal Cormack, Gavin Connolly, Alan O'Callaghan and Paul Tobin were brilliant for the Blues while Craig O'Donovan (goalie) Joe Logue, Seamus Hogan and Kuba Hulanicki gave outstanding performances for the Cons in a match in which every boy was a star. Earlier in the morning the Rockies had their first win when they defeated United. Hat tricks by Naoise Crowley and Paddy Lynch along with a sterling backline performance from Nicky O'Mullane contributed to the win despite the best efforts of the Kelly brothers Alex and Eamonn for United. The Blues led by Don O'Callaghan now lead following 8 games with 16 points, followed by Saints managed by Jim Brohan on 12. The Cons and Rovers are on 8 points while City managed by the redoubtable John Kennedy shot up the table into 5th place with two wins last Saturday. It is getting exciting!

The Cons, Rovers and Saints are on 8 points each and are just waiting for the Blues to slip up. The Blacks and the Rebels are also still in the hunt for the Champions League top three. City. United and Rockies are still working hard and could spring a few surprises yet
Round 2 January 21st, 2006
St Anthony’s School hall was once again an exciting place to be on Saturday 21st January when the second round of games in our new indoor leagues was played. The
Blues secured top spot with wins over the Rockies and Rovers and are now the
only unbeaten team. The Cons are in second place with 6 points. The All-Blacks, Rebels and Saints are also in contention for the coveted third Champions Cup place. City and United also notched up important wins. The unlucky Rockies despite the Trojan efforts of Stephen Murphy, Paddy Lynch and Naoise Crowley are still looking for their first win but have tried very hard.
Round 1 January 14th, 2006 Following the first series of games the league table is headed up by the
Cons and the Blues who acquired maximum points from their two games. A standing
ovation from parents followed a particularly outstanding draw between the
All-Blacks and the Rebels. Three hours of hurling at the Ballinlough School hall
resulted in many a tired Rocky but memories of several fantastic matches. A total of 103 goals were scored during the morning. The Walsh twins
Brian and Cathal performed heroics for the Rebels, while young Brian O’Leary
was outstanding for the All-Blacks in goal. Nicky O’Mullane gave a great
effort for the unlucky Rockies who are reported to have made a couple of new
signings for next week ends action. Joe Logue gave a commanding performance for
table topping Cons while Brian Noonan kept the Blues at the top of the table
also. Kevin Cotter played great hurling for the Saints managed by Jimmy Brohan.
