Mycro Helmets Indoor Hurling League.

The Mycro Sports Indoor Hurling finals were played in Ballinlough on Saturday 27th Feb.

Of the six games, three ended in draws including the Champions Final between the all conquering NAMA and the Developers. This game will live long in the memory as after extra time the teams could not be separated and the game finished 10 all. The capacity crowd gave both teams ear splitting support throughout but it was eventually agreed to share the Championship honours.

The Bankers came good in the Challengers league final.

The 2010 Mycro Leagues were simply the best ever in the five year history of the competition which ensures every participant plays two games each Saturday for seven weeks. Victor Morgan, MD of Mycro Sports and Ronan Curran, Marketing manager presented medals to all the boys. Our thanks go to organisers, Michael Scannell, Paul O’Callaghan, who also refereed the 42 games played and Jodi Crowley for the league tables.

Week 5

The fifth round of Mycro Sports indoor hurling games at Ballinlough resulted in a double victory for the Developers. They now occupy second place in the Mycro league table. The top of the table clash between NAMA and the Regulators resulted in a five all draw after a tremendous contest with no quarter asked or given. Robert Cregan, Ronan O’Callaghan and Jack Lucey were outstanding for NAMA who will finish top of the table. Barry O’Flynn, Mark Butler and Paul Kennedy caught the eye for the Regulators.

The good news is that they meet again on Saturday 20th at 11am.

The Finals will be played off on Saturday February 27th at St. Anthony’s School Hall.

The third round of the Mycro Sports indoor hurling leagues took place at St Anthony’s School Hall on Saturday 16th January. NAMA beat the TDs by 10 goals to 5 and just overcame the Bankers by a single goal in a 15 goal thriller.

The bankers tried every trick they knew but NAMA remained steadfast in their determination to stay on top of the table. Unfortunately the Bankers suffered a double loss, but will undoubtedly arise at some stage.

Adam O’Donoghue and Jack Lucey have been brilliant for NAMA, while Ronan O’Callaghan has been a goal scoring machine. The Regulators also pulled off two wins over the Developers and Consultants and will be difficult to stop.

A classic took place between the Developers and Consultants which finished at seven all. Teams: Blackrock NAMA. Donagh Gribbon,Nathan Montgomery, Darren Duggan, Sean O’Leary, Aaron Ahern, Robert Cregan,Ronan O’Callaghan, Adam O’Donoghue and Jack Lucey.

League Table Week 2


The second round of this indoor hurling competition took place at St.Anthony’s School on Saturday 16th Jan. Nama overcame the Consultants in the top of the table clash by just two goals and hammered the Developers to lead the League. The TDs also lost out but there is a long way to go yet.
However the contest of the tournament was the game between the Regulators and the Bankers which finished five all. For 30 minutes this match was an absolute cracker. Fast first time hurling, robust exchanges, total commitment from the 18 players was the order of the morning. The save of the tournament came from Adam Hennessy following a rasper from Paul Kennedy.
As referee Paul O’Callaghan was about to blow the final whistle, young hero Stephen O’Riordan saved the Bankers with a class goal. It was a fantastic match and the players received a well deserved standing ovation from the capacity crowd at the end.

Week 1

The indoor hurling leagues for the 1999 and 2000 Rocky panels sponsored by Mycro Sports commenced also on the 9th January at St Anthonys School. Team NAMA got off to a great start and had two good wins over the Bankers and Developers. They are joined at the top of the table by the Consultants with wins over the Regulators and the TDs, while the latter defeated the Regulators in their head to head. Matches resume on the 16th January with the mouth watering top of the table clash between Team NAMA and the Consultants.
