Rockies go to the Dogs Launch.

The Blackrock hall was packed last Friday evening 11th November as the Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Deirdre Clune formally launched "A Night at the Dogs". This fundraising event will take place on Thursday 22nd December at the Cork greyhound Park at Curraheen Road.

Among the large and distinguished attendance was Mr. Noel Holland General Manager of the Cork Greyhound track, along with the Chairperson of the Blackrock Hurling club Mr. Tommy O'Sullivan and Blackrock Management Committee Chairperson Frank Murphy.

Lord Mayor Clune congratulated the club on its initiative and commitment to provide sports facilities for the youth of the general Blackrock area and wished the venture every success. She praised the huge resources and effort being put into the development of hurling by the club and pointed to the magnificent hurling hall which is now available to the young hurlers in the club.

The Hurling club Chairperson Mr Tommy O'Sullivan called on all members and friends to support this fundraising drive and to redouble their efforts to encourage a huge crowd to attend Curraheen Park on 22nd December next. His call was echoed by Frank Murphy who also urged support for the fundraising night in order for the Blackrock club to continue to provide the very best sports facilities for the community.

Tickets costing 10 euro each are available from all members, this will guarantee entry on the night as well as a free copy of a special Souvenir Programme. Each ticket will also be included in draws for valuable cash prizes. Sponsors are being sought for some of the individual races; all details are available at the club. As there has been a huge demand for tickets, members are urged to obtain tickets to guarantee admittance on the evening.
