Week 4 October 2nd, 2004 The under 6/7 Blackrock super leagues concluded at a packed Church Road last Saturday with some amazingly exciting games. All four matches went down to the wire and two finals ended in draws. It can really be said that the 120 boys who took part were all winners in the best Super leagues yet played at Blackrock.
The House Cup Final was won by the Slytherin Slashers with Martin O'Farrell the captain. They just came out ahead of the Hufflepuff Horrors led by young Cathal Cormack.
The Tain Cup Final ended in a draw when the Ferocious Firbolgs captained by Liam O'Sullivan and the Terrific Tuath de Danann led by Andrew Kenneally could not be separated.
The Hogwarts Cup Final saw the Ravenclaw Rebels under Dara O' Brien edge out the Gryffindor Grafters captained by Noel Holland.
The cracking Craobh Rua and the Fantastic Fianna played out a thrilling draw in the Celtic Cup Final. The captains were Philip Buckley and Conor O'Brien. A special tribute to 6 year old Mark Cunningham of the Fianna who scored three goals in the last 5 minutes to level the game.

Click here for photographs of the presentation Week 3 Sept 25th, 2004 The third round of the Blackrock under6/7 Super leagues were played last Saturday at Church Road. The Firbolgs powered by Tony McCarthy and Patrick Fitzgerald had a narrow win over the Fantastic Fianna for which Joey Power and Jack Buckley excelled. Slytherin overcame the challenge of Gryffindor, with young Cian Hurley and Oliver Meade excelling for the Slashers while Noel Holland and Jack Austin were brilliant for the Grafters. Seven year old Noel Holland scored an outstanding point from a sideline cut during this game, while Jack claimed a hat trick of goals. Hufflepuff defeated Ravenclaw, with Alan Morgan and John O'Sullivan in top form for the Horrors and Dylan McCarthy and Olan McCarthy doing well for the Rebels. Tuath De Danann claimed the points from Craobh Rua. Andrew Kenneally and Brian O'Mahony played great hurling for the De Danann team while the Craobhs with Ryan Cantwell and James Downey fought all the way. Next Saturday 2nd October the Cup Finals will be held, starting at 10.15. Week 2 re-scheduled Sept 18th, 2004 The Blackrock Super leagues for 6 and 7 year old boys continued at Church Road last Saturday. Buoyed by Cork's All-Ireland win, huge numbers attended with over a dozen new players signing up. Gryffindor, with Luke Holland and David Dalton absolutely magnificent, defeated the Fantastic Fianna for whom Simon Lougheed and David Hurley were brilliant. The Slytherin Slashers achieved their second straight success with a good win over the ferocious Firbolgs. Ciaran O'Connell and Mark O'Leary were excellent for the Slashers while Liam O'Sullivan and Jack Twomey played very well for the Firbolgs. Huffelpuff defeated The Tuath De Danann to go to the top of the table, David Cronin and Billy Whyte showed some lovely skills for the Horrors while the terrific Tuaths were well served by Barry Forde and James Canning. Ravensclaw overcame the challenge of the Craobh Ruas with Sean Desmond and Kevin Green playing well for the Rebels and Barry Grainger and James Downey in great form for the Craobh Ruas. The excitement continues next Saturday 25th with the third round games; Fianna V Firbolgs Slytherin V Gryffindor. Hufflepuff V Ravensclaw. Craobh Rua V Tuath De Danann.
Week 2 Sept 11th, 2004 Due to the bad weather last Saturday the second round of the under 6/7 super leagues were postponed until next Saturday 17th September. Fixtures: Fianna V Gryffindor Firbolg V Slytherin Hufflepuff V Tuath De Danann Ravenclaw V Craobh Rua.
Week 1 September 4th 2004 Over 100 young hurlers commenced their matches in the under 6 and 7
Blackrock Super leagues
last Saturday. There were some fantastic performances from the young
Rockies and the honesty and commitment displayed in all four matches
ensured repeated ovations from the very large crowds present. The Firbolgs just pipped Gryffindor by one goal with John
Cashman and Areeb Aumir Mian putting
great performances for the former, while Gryffindor had good
performances from Adam Murphy
and Adam Clapper.. Slytherin defeated the Fianna by a single point. Mark O’Keeffe and Martin
O’Farrell were class acts for the Fianna, while Conor O’Brien and Mark
Cunningham hurled well for the Slashers. The Tuath De Dannan out performed Ravenclaw. Brian O’Mahony and Simon
O’Brien played well for the De Dannan while Dara O’Brien and Jacob
Buckley displayed great skill for the Rebels. Hufflepuff with the
brilliant Ciaran Cormack and Oisin
Wedel overcame the challenge of the Craobh Rua team where David
Tyner and Conor Kiernan
excelled.
