Under 6's and Under 7's - results

Blackrock Super League Finals Sat Sept 30th

There were a lot of anxious faces among the 6 and 7 year Rockies on Saturday morning 30th September due to the torrential rain. However the blue sky appeared at 10am right on cue and 80 super leaguers got on with the business of hurling in the 2006 Super League finals. Despite the heavy conditions and the mud the young Rockies gave a great display of hurling for the large crowd. When the final whistles went, it was quite a sight to see the mud covered teams gather to collect their medals and trophies.

Results: Cup Final: Rockies 4 - 1 Stormers 3 - 1.

This final was an absolute thriller with nothing seperating two fantastic teams who put on a great display of hurling. The Rockies managed by Paul O'Callaghan and Donal Murray and captained by Liam Grainger took the honours from the Stormers, captained by Eoghan O'Leary. Stormers chief Aidan Lougheed can be very proud of his young charges.

Gold Final: Rebels 5 - 0 Sliotars 4 - 0

There was again very little between two very classy sides. The Rebels captained by a determined Mark Madden led his charges to victory. The proud Rebels manager was Tom Riordan. The Sliotars captain Eoghan O'Shea put in a great performance and team manager Tom Cashman was very happy with their commitment.

Silver Final: Slashers 3 - 0 Heroes 1 - 0

The Slashers led by Joe Golden and managed by Tom Kilcommons had a tremendous battle with the unlucky Heroes captained by Donagh Gribbon. However the Heroes fought bravely to the end and team supremo Orla O'Shea was delighted with the heroic efforts put in by the youngsters.

Platinum Final: Stonethrowers 5 - 2 Hurlers 2 - 0

The Cormack twins who shared the captaincy of the Stonethrowers thrilled manager Martin O'Farrell when they led a very able panel to victory. The Hurlers with captain Conor Twomey tried very hard and managers Colm Daly and Rory Wedel had nothing but praise for their efforts afterwards.

A presentation of trophies and medals by Wayne Sherlock to all the players took place afterwards. These matches concluded the 2006 Blackrock Super Leagues for boys from 6 to 11, in which about 280 Rockies participated and involved about 40 games in total. Our thanks to sponsors Carey Tool Hire.
