U-15 League

Under 15 Hurling League.

Played at Church Road Saturday 8th April.

Blackrock 8 --- 8 Blarney 3 --- 11.

With 45 minutes gone on the clock there was just two points in it, when Blackrock struck a purple patch shooting 5 goals in 7 minutes following some outstanding first time no nonsense hurling. Full forward David Healy in a fine performance and displaying some excellent touches collected a total of 4 goals and 3 points over the hour. Blackrock playing against a strong wind in the first half finished 3 --- 6 to 1 --- 6 ahead which laid the foundation for the second half performance. A goal within 30 seconds of the start from Healy followed by another one from a nice overhead strike from Kevin O'Byrne gave the Rockies the initial advantage. However credit Blarney for a great fight back as Aaron Maguire converted a Blarney goal while Greg Sykes, Barry Phelan and Colin Murphy were also playing well.

Blackrock marshalled by Mark Ryan at full back along with tenacious displays from Richard Laide, Cathal Hannon and Elliot Cantwell at centre back closed down the Blarney forwards. At centre field Paul Bennett and Eoin O'Farrell won lots of ball while Patrick Deasy revelling in his new role at centre forward created many opportunities for his team mates.

Blarney simply had no answer to the goal rush which took place in the second half as the Blackrock forwards repeatedly broke through their backs. Having been defeated by this excellent Blarney hurling team coached by Ray Hurley on several previous occasions, the Blackrock lads were delighted to get back to winning ways in this game.
