Super-Leagues 2000/2001 Group Results 2010 |
Round 1 May 1st 2010 The first six matches in the 2010 under 9 and 10 super leagues, sponsored by Carey Tool Hire took place on Saturday May 1st at Church Road. The misty weather towards the end of the morning did not deter any young Rockies. There was a fantastic turn out with more than sixty young Rockies from our under 9/10 groups taking part. A number of the player’s families and friends came along to support the six teams and witness the contests. The first three matches on the day and results were as follows: Slashers (5-0) played the Whippers (6-3), the Doublers (2-0) versus the Cutters (1-1) and the Pullers (3-3) against the Passers (7-1). All the young Rockies played their best and really enjoyed the games. The standard of hurling and sportsmanship was very high and most of the under 9's were well able to compete with under 10's a year older than them. All teams had their photo taken and then played their second match of the day. The second round of contests and results were as follows: Slashes (2-1) played the Doublers (2-0), the Whippers (2-0) against the Pullers (2-2) and the Cutters (3-0) versus the Passers (4-2). Unfortunately, it is not possible to mention all the players, however some of the lads who played very well were Evin O’Leary, Eoghan Heaney, and Louis Buckley for the Slashers, as well as Robbie Cotter, Iain Aherne and Brandon O’Sullivan for the Whippers. Young Darren Cullen, Cian McCarthy & Adam Kilcommons were outstanding for the Doublers with Shane Hennessy, Joey Boland, Eoin Dilworth and Emmet Sheehan giving their all for the Cutters. Sam Crean, James Walsh Ronan O’Callaghan, Adam Hennessy and Stephen O’Riordan caught the eye for the Passers. Significant contributors for the Pullers were Robert Cregan, Sean Green and Eoin Keating On Saturday 8th of May, the next round of games will take place with the Slashers playing the Passers, the Whippers versus the Cutters and the Doubles against the Pullers. This will be followed by three finals which will be based on the results of each teams three games. The presentation of medals sponsored by Carey Tool Hire will follow at 12:00 approx. Why not call along and watch the real fun of hurling next Saturday May 7th between 10:30 and 11:45 at Church Road.
