Super-Leagues 2001/2002 Group  Results 2009

Round 1 September 5th 2009

It may have been All-Ireland weekend elsewhere but at Church Road it signalled the start of the under 7 and 8 super leagues, sponsored by Carey Tool Hire. There were no less nerves, poor nights sleep, tension and apprehension and that was only from the parents. The kids were just excited.

There was a fantastic turn out with almost eighty young Rockies from our under 7/8 groups taking part. A large number of the player’s families and friends came along to support the six teams and a packed Church Road witnessed the contests.

There were three matches with the Hawks playing the Eagles, the Seagulls versus the Herons and the Magpies against the Jackdaws. All the young Rockies played their best and really enjoyed their games. The standard of hurling and sportsmanship was very high and most of the under 7's were well able to compete with under 8's a year older than them.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to mention all the players, however some of the lads who played very well were Evin O' Leary and Eoghan Heaney for the Hawks, as well as Robbie Cotter & Aaron O'Connell for the Eagles.

Young Cian McCarthy & Joey Boland were outstanding for the Seagulls who came out in top in their contest with the Herons for which Max Scanlon and Luke Buckley gave their all.

Peter Cotter, Eoin Dilworth and Nathan Mc Carthy caught the eye for the Magpies, but Charlie Cremin and Sam Crean for the Jackdaws battled to the end. For the record the Hawks the Seagulls and the Magpies won their matches.

On Saturday 12th of September at 10:00 am, the second round takes place when the Hawks play the Seagulls, the Eagles versus with the Magpies and the Herons against the Jackdaws. Why not call along and watch the real fun of hurling. The finals will be played on Saturday 26th September at Church Road.

Round 3 Sept 19th 2009

There was further excitement later in the morning when the third round of matches in the 2009 under 7 and 8 super leagues, sponsored by Carey Tool Hire. The misty weather it did not deter any young Rockies.
