Super-Leagues 2003 Group  Results 2009

Under 6 Super leagues.

Round 1 - Sat Sept 19th

Following a sleepless night and amidst scenes of great excitement these commenced on Saturday 19th at Church Road. Almost 40 boys born in 2003 took part. A huge crowd attended.

Results: Blackrock Warriors 2 Blackrock Fianna 1

Blackrock Firbolgs 7 Red Hand Knights 4

The Warriors and the Fianna were two very evenly matched teams and there was little between them. Oran Crowe, Hugh Collins, James Lynch and Mark Barrett looked like true Warriors throughout the game, while Na Fianna had fine hurlers in Eoin De Burca, Issac Wheelock, James Lawton and Eoin O’Donoghue.

A purple patch by the Firbolgs clinched the second game for them despite a brave performance from the Red Hand. Paul Drury, Eoin McFerran, Darragh Cambridge and Jacob Jackson were outstanding for the Firbolgs while Conor Hanley, Kevin O’Driscoll, Peter Hyland and Harry Nevin displayed some lovely skillwork for the RH Knights.

In truth all boys gave of their all, so next Saturday will be eagerly awaited again as the Warriors and the Firbolgs meet in the top of the table clash while the Fianna and the RH Knights will also be exciting.

Round 2 - Sat Sept 26th

All is set for the finals of these Superleagues on Saturday 3rd October. The Warriors face the Na Fianna while the Firbolgs take on the might of the Red Hand Knights. These are two compelling contests and should pack Church Road.

The medals will be presented to the young Rockies by Lisa Cummins who recently became the first Irish person to swim the English Channel both ways.
